Will You Stand Up Against the Cruelty of Man?

My mustang child Maverick was part of the Nebraska 200 rescue, where 200 BLM ” protected”  wild horses had been abandoned to starve in a federal holding facility.  100 of Maverick’s family were dead by the time help arrived – scattered around the small paddock.  Maverick was one of the 200 lucky ones.   Here is the video of the lucky surviving horses as they were first being cared for by their rescuers.

Our Tax Dollars at Work

After I met Maverick, I started researching Mustangs.  What I found horrified me. The BLM cruelty – chasing single horses across miles of scrub with a $200,000 helicopter? Really?  It’s cruel, it’s expensive and it’s unnecessary.   Watch any of the videos below. I’ll warn you, they are not pretty.  But I think everyone should see what these men are doing with our tax dollars. There are alternatives that are both cost effective and leave the mustangs to run free. On lands that were granted to them by our Federal government.

Our wild horses are a national treasure.Wild horses were brought to our world by the Spanish explorers. They carried men and families across the United States to settle our nation.

In 1971, an unprecedented public outcry moved Congress to unanimously pass the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act, granting federal protection to America’s wild horses and burros as “living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West […] that […] contribute to the diversity of life forms within the Nation and enrich the lives of the American people.”

From over 2 million in the 1800s, America’s wild horse population has dwindled to fewer than 33,000. There are more wild horses and burros in BLM holding pens than there are in the wild. The herd populations levels, combined with the sharp decline in total numbers strongly suggest a near term extinction.  And the BLM rounds ups continue.

Please help save Maverick’s Family!

Maverick Today

My Maverick is the sweetest soul I’ve ever encountered.  He makes me laugh every day with his free spirited antics.

When we met he was terrified of humans. We couldn’t get near him.  It took weeks of love and a few broken human bodies to teach prove our trustworthiness.

It took a lot of courage, but Maverick learned to trust human beings again. He’s been with us for nine months and he is the ranch pet.  He grazes and trots around the property, walks up to his 2 legged friends and demands a rub. He’s a big pet.

If Maverick’s heart can be big enough to trust us again –  I hope our hearts can be big enough to protect his family.

PLEASE e-mail, text, or go to the websites of your government representatives.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE BLM KILL A STALLION TRYING TO PROTECT HIS FOAL

The BLM contractors abuse this herd, then separate a young foal from its mother. The Stallion fights to protect the foal and is killed from a broken neck forced by the BLM contractors. They watch and do nothing as the stallion dies. IS THIS HOW WE WANT OUR TAX DOLLARS SPENT – TO THE TUNE OF $67M?

Honey Bandit Part 1

Honey Bandit Part 2

Honey Bandit is a foal, separated from him mom as an unweaned little baby by the BLM. Penned with older geldings, he was beaten and bruised in a paddock with no water, shelter or a mommy for food.  He was rescued by his mom and is now the poster child for the Wild Horses.
